Whispers of Desert Winds

Underneath the endless sky

Where the sand remembers my steps,

I hear the whispers of forgotten winds

That once danced through my childhood dreams.

The shadows of distant mountains fade,

Like memories slipping through cracked hands,

Yet the scent of sagebrush still lingers,

A silent reminder of who I was.

The earth beneath, warm and forgiving,

Calls me back to a time when I knew it well,

When the songs of coyotes at dusk

Were the lullabies of an untamed heart.

Now, the wind carries not just dust,

But questions of paths I never took—

What might have bloomed in those hidden canyons,

Had I wandered a little further?

The stars above are no longer the same,

Or perhaps it is I who has changed.

Still, I trace their light, searching for answers

In the sky that once held only wonder.

Yet here I stand, between what was

And what still may come,

Listening to the desert breathe,

And remembering that I am but a part of its story.

Will the wind one day forget my name,

Or will it carry my soul with it,

Across the timeless sands,

To where my heart first learned to roam?
