Song of the Heart

Clouds have gathered at the edge of the sky today, Sorrow hums a quiet tune where my thoughts stray. Alone I sit beside the river, lost in thought, Wondering where that dear old land I loved has got. On the breeze there drifts a trace of songs long past, I open memory's pages, wondering how they last. Flowers fall in silence, scattered on the ground, Yet still life moves onward, to its own rhythm bound. Tears well in my eyes, and blur the heart's own word, Yet faith remains within me — I'll regain what I've lost, I've heard. The stars at night are speaking in a language hushed and low, That after every sorrow, joy will surely grow. In morning's early light, new hope begins to rise, I build a home of dreams within the corner of my eyes. The birds today are calling through the fresh new dawn, Life's melody keeps playing, and its rhythm carries on. Whatever I have lost remains in memory's care, Love lives on forever, held in the heart's own prayer. Upon this earth's wide bosom, this same old play unfolds, Laughter woven with tears — this is the life it holds.
